As of now wintel is a 32 bit computer environment, where as UNIX is 64 bit, this is the word length I'm talking about. Longer the word length, more data goes through, the more gets done on each CPU cycle. Large companies run their back office in unix, with 64 bit coming, wintel hopes to move into that area.. The above is a very simple explanation there is more to it, but you have to buy some books to research further. <ggg>
