I was impressed at your list, but actually the Bell Curve is not a bad review of the "research." But there is a real risk in people (like you and I) who are not themselves expert in design of experiments to draw scientific conclusions on work by who aren't themselves experts. About 20 years ago I read about 200 studies of IQ and race. The differences between whites and blacks were so large (the difference in means was about one sigma on the average) that the difference demanded to be resolved. That the subject has been contaminated is too damned bad. In employment selection (where I am very well informed) IQ has reemerged as the most important single indicator of success on the job. With the gradual destruction of affirmative action, and strict enforcement of antidiscrimination legislation, this means that it is now possible to exclude persons with low IQ's from good job. Because no one knows how to enhance IQ scores so that equal IQ distributions of blacks and whites are obtainable, the discrimination against blacks continues. Many companies like Cisco and Microsoft brag that they only hire the top 5 or 10 per cent of the intelligence distribution. New codes words for whites and Asians only.
