I may be eating crow, but I will at least stick with a decline. I am certainly a nobody but feel I can guess better than the experts who have all the inside information and who do this for a living ;-)

I like your question - Anyone else want to put their derriere on the line and guess at the numbers??

RE: API Numbers

i expect the experts are counting on a boost from refinery runs to goose stocks of gasoline. while refinery runs may be up, one must reckon that these figures will, unless i am mistaken, cover the driving holiday of the 4th. hard to fathom a huge build. i would expect a modest draw in gas stocks and crude of roughly 1.5 each with a modest buils of heating oil.

the osx trading pattern has shifted from previous weeks, however, as we are trading up, by and larg,e into the release of the numbers. if we do get a negative report we might just trade down pretty hard. anyone taking money off the table yesterday or today?

on the other hand a bullish report might take us up to the 83-4 range which is for now our major resistance.

k.l. -- the constant mis-estimation by the experts of the api numbers makes one wonder if the estimates are coming from traders who release their guesses as part of their effort to take up long positions in the futures. would go a long way toward explaining the repeated "flubbed" calls.

anyway put me down for a combined draw of 3M.
