Hi Joe, yep Conexants has been flying under lots folks's radar; & going on the NASDAQ 100 is sure to bring it to the attention of more in the near future I betcha. Great Letter you wrote DZ calling attention to it's deservability as an SI Headline. You know, it's funny... stocks really are unpredictable... many stocks in, say utilities sector for example... which Co.'s have performed as well with as many future possibilities as Conexants or nets or any of 'em but they just lay there (called value bargains right now).... Nothing good lays there forever, all things come to the patient... these sectors as all do for sure do go in and out of style. "Mellow Yellow, Bound To Be The Very Next Phase" remembered along with "Sha Na Na Na Na Let's Live For Today" are the Top Two Messages of my best stock investing inspirational songs... those words say it all at one time! A Little Of This, A Little Of That, best IMHO. For a recent example...Enron is splitting BTW, now THERE'S ONE not a bad pick A-Tall IMHO for performance and near-future possibilities what's with energy deregulation coming, seems to me. (Of course, I've been wrong B3 and will be wrong again at many points; yep that's the Stock Biz). I've had my eye on both those Enron ones for years and this time planning to finally get some the pure energy one when it's bargain time around the split). I give that one as just one example of looking at possibilities, buying it... but never knowing for sure in advance whether the market will catch on fire about it or not! Just now way of telling that, couldn't tell with Conexant or any of 'em, can't read a crystal ball. It's a combo of being sensible combined with just pure plain hunch & luck, isn't it? The luck is either being like, "7 Come 11, Come On Baby!! Baby Needs A New Pair Of Shoes!!" and maybe either Sheeza Flyer so it's getting your doubles one after one in a row.... or sometimes ugh it's getting Snake Eyes right off, holding it for as long as you can stand, then selling it and the next day it pops... who can really tell? No one, that's who. This thing is a combo of intelligence, elbow grease, and luck for Anyone, including the Pros... some of whom looks like got promoted after their string of luck, then their luck ran out. Peter's Principle At Work. Like Last Year Fred The Chimp's Picks beat the top Wall Street Analysts by a longshot - I think he was throwing bananas at tickers or something, LOL... but Talk About Mellow Yellow, yep Fred The Chimp beat the Pros on Picks. Betcha he'd win over me too!!
2B Really Honest, Rockwell giving Conexant was one of my top lucky picks for '98, not the luckiest but right up there with the best as it turns out. I had a great feeling about it from the start; but so I do with all my stocks or I wouldn't buy 'em! I like to brag and pretend to take credit for it because that's how we pals have fun on Techride, but of course we all know it was luck. Luck and the mood of the market at-large. Moods change so quickly it's difficult to keep up with 'em, that's why ongoing news-reading and DD and The 360 is so nose-to-the-grindstone important as You Sure Do Know.
It's Nice To Get Lucky Witchez All On Conexant, Wheeeeee !
Even Nicer 2B In The Top Dog LuckyDuck Seat On This One!
Someone Else's Turn Next Time!!
