Gary,

That's a lot of houses. I have found that 3 is enough. For what it's worth, ASND was the first to ship an MPLS module with their ATM switch early this year and had revenue in the last quarter that they were stand-alone. I guess that LU does, in fact, have this capability.

Are these products/markets that Cisco is targeting?

Yes, there are CSCO products in the catalog right along side of the knock offs.

you might be interested to know that Cisco does continue to manufacture many products internally.

This is new to me. What products?

LU is virtaully unseen in the enterprise

Not so for Ascend, which IS definitely taking some marketshare!

Cisco nearly owns the cable market

Fiber will eventually replace cable and twisted pair. No concern here since LU is the leader in DWDM.

Cisco has embraced both proprietary and standard based implementations.

CSCO hates standards. Why do they spend so much R&D on proprietary solutions if they embrace standards?

it will cost far less to drop some fiber before it makes
sense to install ATM

What have you been smoking? You say rewiring a campus is more cost efficient than replacing some switches? Sheesh, that one came out of right field! Didnt expect that one, not even from you OG.

In 5 years the game will be over and I will be retired with homes in Tahoe, Phoenix, Monaco, and Santa Barbara.

Homeless shelters in Monaco? Better check on that OG.
