BOB MARTIN: USA "Waiting for Aug./Sept."

I'm with you and Rande Is on this one. Today's new Nasdaq record was just the type of day I was looking to sell into. Sold everything except the stocks I have significant profits in that are long-term holds -- I'm now 1/3 LTH and 2/3 cash and will remain so until the one inevitable steep correction between now and the end of the year. Meanwhile, I've devised a list of stocks I'll be tracking that I want to jump into for long-term hold positions when they drop. For what they're worth, here they are:

wireless: Conexant (CNXT); Qualcomm (QCOM) - already a LTH, I want to
buy more on a dip; Nokia (NOK)

Speciality/non-PC chipmakers: National Semiconductor (NSM); Applied
MicroCircuits (AMCC); Broadcom(BRCM); Xilinx (XLNX); Texas Instruments (TXN); PMC Sierra (PMCS); Vitesse Semiconductor (VTSS)

Fiberoptic/Broadband: Global Crossing (GBLX) -- will wait until the melodrama between Qwest and US West/Frontier plays itself out, though; Metromedia Fibre (MFNX); JDS Uniphase -- a LTH, buy more on a dip;
Nextlink (NXLK)

Computer Software: Siebel Systems (SEBL); Legato Systems (LGTO)

Miscellaneous techs: Checkfree (CKFR); Knight-Trimark (NITE); Gemstar(GMST)

If you've noticed that the internets are conspicuously absent, I have become a bit gun-shy about this sector. Just my gut feeling, but I think we're going to see lower lows, and lower highs, with the same volatility and rapidity. Unless you're sitting at the computer all day, I think it is too tricky to guess when to sell and when to buy back. If anyone has thoughts on this sector and how to play it, as well as other candidates for buying as long-term holds later this year, both would be appreciated.
