To get into the IPO I would think you would have to have an account with one of the firms who brought the offering to market - Piper Jaffray, Prudential Securities or Warburg Dillon Read. They would make it available to their own accounts and customers of other firms (no matter how large their accounts) would have to wait and buy it on the secondary market - unless those other firms can get allocations from the underwriters. With as few shares as were offered in this IPO, I would think the underwriters would keep it all for their own customer accounts. But the secondary market isn't all bad. You'd miss the initial pop, but if you are long, what do you care? (unless you are a day trader.) LRN

I have a much smaller account than that with Prudential and was offered shares......didn't take them though. I feel like an idiot, I have been offered 4 IPO's and 1 second offering from Prudential and have not taken 1 of them. They have another coming out next week, I think it's AIRO, and I told my broker to hold those for me this time. Get an account with a major underwriter in an area with LOTS of old people. They will never take the shares alloted to the branch because of the risk involved and you can get them all.
