Walter,

TI's DSP works with EDIG's Micro OS to allow recorders to play multiple formats. Without an OS TI's DSP doesn't function that way. There are two competitors to EDIG. One is Datalight and the other is M Systems, but both use proprietary hardware, and of the two, only M Systems supports audio.

EDIG has the only software based solution. With phase two around the corner, it is doubtful that manufactures will opt for a hardware based operating system.

The SDMI did not review products from either Datalight or M Systems.

Gee! It looks like we're going to have a green Christmas!

It's more likely that SDMI, MSFT, or
Santa Claus will miss their delivery date.
