<the heaviest of the heavies is in Biotime's corner, Abbott Labs>

And another "heaviest of the heavies", Schering-Plough, was in ZONA's corner.

Abbott has been unclear on what they expect the market to be. Some have said into the 100's of MM's while the last statement was more of a reiteration of the current Hespan/hetastarch market. We longs believe that Hextend is superior enough to the generics to justify selling at a premium to the generics (thus increasing whatever the current generic dollar volume by a factor of at least 2) and effective enough to take some of the albumin market (which sells for roughly 5-6 times what Hextend will sell for). Abbott's last conference call was handled by someone not terribly knowledgeable about the marketing of Hextend and frankly, we think he mishandled the issue.

Regardless of your position on these matters there are two things that are historically undeniable. Insiders have yet to sell a single share and the short interest is running at an astounding level while the stock continues to hold up and the product gets closer to shipping and the company is busy in deals with Europe and the Orient.

I find the scenario highly interesting to say the least. Someone is going to lose big. Well actually, I can't lose big. I am in at 9 and all I can lose is 9. I wonder who is short at 6 and staring at 15 tomorrow and who knows what in 3 months?
