i wasn't going to ask. it's just driving me nuts, is all. <g3>

the area you refer to, called the system tray, often ends up with program icons that are put there during installation. seldom do i see a choice anymore.

you can right click on the individual icons and close them that way. additionally, upon right-clicking on them, some will give the choice of not having the program included anymore as part of your startup folder. you can also look into the registry management freeware that i was posting to alraz about yesterday.
