So please stick around, CH, FT and Barrett all behave better when you're here. You've got them wrapped around your little finger. What a lovely compliment! Thanks! Although in fairness, I think that what is going on is that these people know that I like and respect them, regardless of whether we agree. If they "behave," it is because they are living up to the standards of friendship; these people are my friends. Perhaps in the heat of an argument, they forget that we are in the equivalent of a lovely party in which people discuss and debate to learn and to think. I try to remind them in my postings, even while I quarrel violently at times with them and with others and even with you. I do regard you as a friend, BTW.

something or things Barrett posted put him in a snit, and he just flamed Barrett, big-time. Actually, not quite true. I was not in a snit at all; I was just tired of Barrett posting garbage at other peoples' expense and decided to call him on it. The person who said he can dish it out but can't take it was absolutely right -- my post suggesting that he felt racist posts wouldn't hurt anybody's feelings really hit his hot button. Now he's trying to recover, but he just doesn't have the horsepower to. But several people I respect (no, not 36! <g>) have PMd me suggesting that I leave Barrett and Terrence alone, that they aren't worth the energy, and that they will keep clogging up the thread indefinitely as long as people respond to them. Actually, I view beating up on them as relaxation after a day of fighting for my clients against people who are bright enough that it takes energy to defeat them. But I also get the point. So in deference to those friends, and you know who you are, I will do my best to refrain from tweaking Barrett or Terrence's noses anymore. Or, if I do, I will simply respond, as one PMer suggested, with a blank post to show the worth of what they posted. By the same token, it's not fair for me to give up dessert unless others are willing to make some sacrifices, too. So if you want to show support for my self denial, join me and ignore them, too. If they stop having people respond to them, there is some hope they may get tired of this and go away. Come to think of it, if we get into some intelligent discussions here they will be so lost they will go away because they will have no idea what is being said. (Okay, okay, under my new policy I should have avoided that dig. But cold turkey is SO hard!)
