I was checking out the atmosphere, and wasn't thrilled with what I saw: a lot of tense young guys staring at screens, looking depressed, in a drab environment. I have learned by losing a lot of money, primarily. ;-) I've also read everything on the planet about trading, and talked with a lot of traders, mostly losers, but a few winners as well (I can count the successful traders I know personally on one hand). I do not use Level II data, have no interest in scalping out eighths and quarters, and do not use a direct access system. I guess half the battle is figuring out what style fits your personality, and then running with it. ~Smart$
