With open access in Florida and in Portland it would seem to me that most other communities would seem that other communities will be hesitant to vote against open access. It would seem that only the community would lose out to competition and lower prices if they were to vote against it.

We have open access here in Canada already but the recent problem has been what type of regulation to have that will allow the internet service providers that want to use the cable company infrastructure to use it without the cable companies gouging them pricewise out of competitiveness.

Does anyone have any ideas on how the government in the US might approach this. I still haven't seen any viable solution to this problem here in Canada. The only cable companies here in Canada that seem to be allowing truly open access are the smaller independent ones that don't want to spend the money to finance setting up their own internet services.

I think this was a great victory for AOL to get access to almost all markets in the US.

I had previously been sitting on the fence not sure where this technology might be going holding both AOL and ATHM but sold my ATHM shares today.

AOl has great management and has always been looking towards the future, and I am kind of relieved that they haven't as yet struck a major deal with any cable companies.
