MACR would only consider buying THW to eliminate their LiveStage product from the marketplace. A QuickTime based animation tool like LiveStage is the only serious alternative to MACR Flash. By killing THW they could delay any real competition for this exploding marketplace and maintain their dominant position for at least another year. With the rise in broadband internet access through cable and DSL this type of animated content will be greatly in demand. How much would it be worth to MACR to eliminate their biggest potential competitor? Would Apple or Adobe allow MACR to do it?
