The reason I own QCOM stock is because the company has done an excellent job creating a technology, bringing it to market, growing that market, and in general making a ton of money for me. Why should I doubt that having instant cash with which to grow the business would be anything other than positive?

I believe in the company. I'm not a momentum investor. Although I haven't been around as long as some of the people here, I do have a cost basis around $25/share. That means I had faith a time when the faithful were like missionaries in a hostile jungle.

How is Improved balance sheet and credit rating for starters. If QCOM is going to be a $100 billion company it will need to lower its borrowing costs to be competitive with the Motorola's, IBM's and AT&T's of the world. Billion $ cash balance is going to look pretty good to credit rating agencies.
