D.,

I think you're giving the regulators more credit than they deserve.

Frequently, they're more concerned with taking away a broker's means of earning a living than protecting investors.

And like anything else, if the broker knows the right law firm, then problems can miraculously disappear. A costly service, but he keeps doing his thing to the unsuspecting public.

Then there was last Saturday's story in the WSJ about the Miami investment firm which hired a former NASD regulation official, and with his expertise avoided detection of all their violations. From the article, it sounded as if the Investment firm had one purpose only - to steal clients assets; and they did that extraordinarily well primarily from elderly clients.

Anybody who starts off with the assumption that someone cares as much about one's own wellbeing as that person does, is going to get screwed. ... and won't get kissed while it's happening; nor will they even end up with a satisfied smile.

JMHO,
Ian.

D: Re: commissions and BB only focusing on mutual fund commissions...etc...

I will concede you make some good points...after all, money is money, and if some poor sap refinances 3 times because of some unscrupulous mortgage broker, then that person has been a shark-attack victim too, IMHO. Perhaps BB should branch out...for over ten years now he has been pitching no-load funds and griping about victims of load-fund shark attacks (and with legitimate reason, too). But, maybe his message has been received by most people now?

Maybe some of the readers of this board will call his show and ask him about other "commission abuse"

Also...there probably are some well-principled stock brokers out there, who earn respectable returns for their client. I meant no slam against them with my previous comments. But...I bet most readers of this board steer clear of them, too <GG>

Regards, Bill S
