MARKHAM, ON, Sept. 3 /CNW/ - Digital Processing Systems Inc. (TSE - DPS)
announced today that a patent infringement lawsuit filed against it in
California in 1998 by J. Carl Cooper and his affiliates has been dismissed
pursuant to a settlement agreement involving Cooper and Elantec Semiconductor,
Inc. Elantec manufactures and sells integrated circuits which are used in
certain DPS products and which were the basis of Cooper's infringement
allegations. The settlement arrangements do not require the payment by DPS of
any monies and allow DPS to continue the use of the Elantec integrated
circuits in DPS products.
