Finnish shares to open up on Nokia, trade light
HELSINKI, July 14 (Reuters) - Finnish shares will open
higher on Wednesday, buoyed by a higher close for Nokia in New
York overnight, but turnover will be light ahead of the release
of U.S. economic indicators in the afternoon, brokers said.
Brokers said overnight results from Motorola <MOT.N>, Intel
<INTC.O> and International Paper <IP.N> were generally positive,
adding Nokia could take heart from Motorola's healthy digital
phone sales while comments from International Paper management
showed forestry sector recovery was on track.
* HEX general index <.HEX> seen opening between half a percent
and one percent higher, Frankfurt +0.2 pct at 0711 GMT.
* Turnover expected to be light ahead of U.S. producer price
and retail sales data in the afternoon, given lingering fears
about inflationary pressure and possible future interest rate
hikes.
* Nokia <NOK1V.HE> seen opening near the close of its New York
ADR <NOK.N> of 91 euros, up from 89.95 euros in Helsinki, but
brokers say share's movements tough to call as investors still
digesting Motorola results and the company's own second-quarter
results are due next week.
* Forestries seen boosted by International Paper's comments
that all its businesses were improving. UPM-Kymmene <UPM1V.HE>
seen with greater upside given Stora Enso's <STERV.HE> strong
gains over past few days.
