No, it just would have been the same deal is if the soviets had won the hockey at the 1980 Olympics. There is just something about winning when you are a supreme underdog, against a better funded, more wellknown institutional team or set of teams.

Add to that the fact that these people are paid 35K/year with no chance of a pro career (untrue with the US hockey at the Olympics - they had a future) and you have to really admire them - they do it for the love of their sport.

There is a reason the US womens team is featured in every weekly magazine (and on the covers of some) Time, Newsweek etc. this week, they deserve every accolade they get.
