Ray,

Jack Whitley's response provides a succinct compilation of many of the immediate responses to the Boston Globe article's positions.

They are without exception valid and easily documented bandwidth and service demand creators, and all are the subjects of much discussion, not only among technical people, but also among broadcasters, media people, government and politicians, educational analysts, etc., etc.

It makes the Howe/Bruneau glut concept and position hard to fathom. It would also be very hard to believe that the Globe itself doesn't have plans for major bandwidth-eating system improvements and new service offerings. I wonder how much inquiry Mr. Howe did right in his own building.

In an unrelated development, the New York Times Co. this week removed the Globe's Publisher (a member of the Taylor family who controlled the Globe for over 100 years) and replaced him with a New York Times loyalist.
