AT & T reminds me of the saying:
"When you are a hammer, everything looks like a nail."
AT&T is a company forged by changes in regulation. (Not consumer needs). What they know how to do is fight or (conform, when necessary) to regulation. They also have huge budgets and Departments/employees in advertising and marketing and legal.

Now I am not saying they know how to market,because they don't.*

But what they do is approach problems the way they always have:

#1 Call the lawyers (lobbyists) and figure out a regulatory strategy and lobby like heck!.

#2 Call the Marketing/Agency guys who will,of course, recommend advertising.

I think this bodes well.

* (Have you seen their talking dog heads trying to sell their 10-10-3xxxx whatever number for long distance? It was late and the characterizations are insulting, almost politically incorrect!)
