Thank you for the link, it was indeed interesting. It is my belief that eventually diamonds will be priced as any other commodity. People do not realize that a diamond engagement ring is nothing more than a tradition invented by Debeers and propogated by Hollywood. They did a really good job of it, too. The only way diamonds have any value is through ruthless intimidation tactics, unbelievably massive bribes to diamond producing countries and their leaders, and astounding marketing.

During World War II the US told debeers that we needed industrial diamonds on a massive scale. Debeers balked at first, then finally caved in when britain realized they were toast without us and twisted their arm, and finally produced diamonds in such quantity that it would have destroyed the worldwide market had they ever gotten outside of strict industrial control.
