i find your posts, absolute banter, without these requisites and just as immoral for not taking more responsibility.

Ken, your post brings to mind here the role and function of Gov't as set forth by Hobbes, Locke and Rouseau. This is not meant to be an all-inclusive statement about the role and function of Gov't, but I do agree with Locke that Democratic Governments are formed to protect its citizens PRIVATE PROPERTY and MONEY. Once the citizens money and private property are placed in jeopardy, which is exactly what may occur as the result of Y2K, the social contract between Gov't and its citizens is broken and society as we presently know it reverts back to the fundamental state of nature. Hobbes spoke of WAR as representing the original state of Nature prior to the social contract.
My response to your claim that the Gov't may take away its citizens Gold during this Y2K crisis is certainly something to take quite seriously as it was done before. The Right and Power to do this is an entirely different question. From a purely social contract standpoint, a citizen is under no obligation to cooperate and return his gold if his fiat money is no longer protected by the Gov't.
I know that Rouseau spoke of Innocence as the Basic State of Nature. But it is this very innocence and naivette ( along with the denial that accompanies this state ) that Y2K places in question. Rouseau understood quite well that the social contract between gov't and its citizens ultimately leads to the destruction of Innocence.

By all means, please post your Gold links. The GPM thread would appreciate it also. And please do continue to post here as it provides invaluable information for families to take the required steps to provide for their very survival.
