This article completely misses a key & CRITICAL point. There is no competition in the local loop and T is our only hope. Further, Bells will slow down ADSL deployment if T is slowed down, which it will be if asked to provide open access, because Bells do not want to give up T1 revenue. FCC knows this and this is why open access wasn't an issue at all for them in the merger of T with TCI even though AOL and others raised it.

T better get the message right or they will lose. Hopefully Congress will come to their senses and support the law they enacted 3 1/2 years ago. IT IS NOT AN ISSUE OF COMPETITION THROUGH CABLE - IT IS AN ISSUE OF 1. COMPETITION IN BROADBAND and 2. COMPETITION IN LOCAL ACCESS. As such, T must be supported. Just heard that WCOM is rolling out its ADSL consumer service nationwide - so what's the issue with T? It's rediculous and we will never get competition in the local loop at this rate!
