Thread. Re: Revenue shortfall:

While everyone seems to be focused on ASPs and resulting revenue shortfalls, I don't think we should ignore the world trends that are shaping up for the next few years.

Primarily, Asia is coming back as revenues there grew 25% for the quarter. This compares with a 17% gain in the U.S.

Europe is still slumping with revenue growth up only 2%.

In my opinion, Asia will grow even faster the next 2 years and Europe will join the party as well. The two combined were larger than the Americas last quarter and their growth potential exceeds that of the United States.

Don't forget that the last two years have been the two slowest for world growth since the recession of 1991. Most forecasts call for renewed growth and these recovering areas have great pent-up demand for technology as the need to reshape their economies has been put on hold.

All my opinion, of course.

I don't think too many people doubt the move towards Internet based economy. My question is whether most(if not all) of the future potential has been captured in today's valuations.

After all based on the expected future growth rates for the economy inspite of the Internet and the technoogy revolution is in the 3-5% range. Businessed are getting more efficient, but once the first order effect of cost savins are realized - incremental gains in profitability will be harder to achieve.
