Jean, I think it would be a real stretch for IDX. Symbol has been in the news this morning. They just won a 248 million contract for Automatic Identification Technologies. One of Symbols partners is Computer Associates... I was just trying to figure a way for IDX to play with these guys... I mean they are asking for "state-of-the-art commercial items needed for automatic identification"... I think the answer is obvious, IDX is down an 1/8... steve ARMY Symbol Technologies Inc., Holtsville, N.Y., is being awarded $100,000 (base year total) as part of a $248,000,000 (total if all options are exercised) indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity/firm-fixed-price contract. An appropriation number and dollar value will be issued with each delivery order. This Automatic Identification Technologies II (AIT-II) contract will provide state-of-the-art commercial items needed for automatic identification, data collection, data processing, data storage, data retrieval, data transmission, and the tracking of assets, including the use of radio frequency technology for users throughout Department of Defense, Coast Guard, and other Federal Agencies. Associated technical engineering services (systems integration, software development, surveys and installations), training, maintenance, documentation, and program management are required. Work will be performed in Holtsville, N.Y., and is expected to be completed by Sept. 30, 2009. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. There were 25 bids solicited on March 23, 1999, and two bids were received. The U.S. Army Communications & Electronics Command Acquisition Center, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity (DAAB15-99-D-0015)defenselink.mil
