John, I use MF plus price movement to provide me with a snapshot. Generally, negative money flow plus upward price movement indicates either "smart money" leaving the market or a level of profit taking. Positive MF, particularly in periods of downward trending price, generally indicates to me "smart money" flowing into the stock. Coupling this with MACD, OBV, and others provides me with the picture I need.

Best regards,
George Wave

J.C.,

If you've ever listened to Laszlo Birinyi, you'll appreciate that first comes money flow, then comes the movement in stock price.

If you don't know Laszlo, then do a little research.

For someone who claims to be long 1000 Dell Contracts, I'm surprised that you have the questions re MF that you do. Certainly, if I were speculating on the short term direction of 100,000 shares of Dell, I'd want to know everything about short term factors affecting the underlying's price. In fact, I'd want to be the absolute expert on it.

And, if MF is completely unimportant to you, ignore it. That's what the next button is for.

Finally, to find Dell, if you're using a PC, Press CRTL-F, then type "DELL", then press ENTER until it finds Dell in the MF table.

Ian.

john hsu:<use of the phrase vitamin is juvenile> Please cut Garrett a little slack on his choice of a title. I am sure he is just trying to have a little fun with the title. If anything perhaps it pokes fun at a "measurement" which might be taken too seriously. The money flow number itself which I pay for, is just another number---it is NOT true that it goes up or down with stock price. It is defined by the pcquote organization, and used by many institutiional traders, so I thought it might be of some interest here. Garrett is doing this since I started being unable to be online. If others are offended by the publication of it, I would strongly suggest they PM garrett c/o my name. btw there are several other definitions of money flow out there...in conclusion, i can readily understand several reasons why you might at first have been offended by the title, and I am sure garrett will consider any comments anyone wants to make to him...I hope you are direct and not at all timid, with anything you say here.
