<<You do realize how seriously flawed that survey must have been, dont you? Everyone they randomly polled had a telephone, which automatically leaves out 95% of the population. So they then multiplied the percentage of people who answered the phone and said they use the internet, by the entire population of the country!!>>

Huh??? Where does it say they multiplied the number by the entire population. The article simply states of the number of people WHO USE THE INTERNET (2.1 million) 85% are males and 40% are between 21-25. Read below and and prove me wrong. P.S. I have no position in this stock, but enjoy watching you go from tread to thread making up stuff.

<<BEIJING (Dow Jones)--China's Internet usership reached 4 million by the end
of June, the official Xinhua News Agency reported Wednesday.
The country had 1.46 million computers on-line by the end of last month, it
said, citing a report by the state-run China Internet Network Information
Center.
The new number means that Internet usership in China has nearly doubled since
the end of last year, when official numbers put the total number of Chinese
on-line at 2.1 million.
The new report was based on a survey of 52,500 people, Xinhua said.
It found that 85% of Chinese Internet users are male, and 40% are between
21-25 years old, Xinhua reported.

KeepItSimple, why do you think the survey was made through phone calls?

<<Everyone they randomly polled had a telephone, which automatically leaves out 95% of the population. >>

If you don't have a telephone at home, how can you have Internet access? I know, I know, cable, dish can access too, but those have not yet existed in China. So telephone interview is the most reasonable way to make a survey on Internet use in China.

Your estimates on the number of telephones are way off. In terms of the population in China's big cities, 30%+ already have wired telephones at home. And I think this Internet business in China is only subject to cities, at least right now, and in the near future. If including the cell phone, the percentage will be even higher. Just the three cities -- Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou -- have more cell phones than the whole Untied States.

I have 5 sisters and Brothers in Beijing, and all of them have wired telephones at home, and mind you that they are not that successful in the last 10 years or so. As a matter of fact, their salary are among the low to medium. In other word, those who really get rich and benefit a lot from the economic reform will have more than one telephone, wired and cell phone.

China is changing rapidly, and many people here in the states don't even realize this. What a pity!
