More positive earnings announcements for semiconductor companies: Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) posts a Q2 operating loss of $1.10, sixteen cents narrower than the First Call estimate, vs year-ago loss of $0.45 a share; sales rose 13% to $595.1 mln; Rambus Inc. (RMBS) designer and developer of high-speed chip-to-chip interface technology posts a fiscal Q3 net of $0.08 a share, two cents better than the First Call estimate, vs year-ago profit of $0.07; revenues rose 16% to $10.6 mln and 8% on a sequential basis; Integrated Device Technology Inc. maker of semiconductor products and modules for data communications posts a fiscal Q1 net of $0.09 a share, five cents better than the First Call estimate, vs year-ago loss of $0.59; DSP Communications manufacturer of chip sets for wireless personal communications applications reports Q2 net of $0.22 a share, in line with the First Call mean, vs yr-ago earnings of $0.19; Increasing capital budgets for fab upgrades should follow.
