Scumbria, With the K7 any Intel price cuts hit Intel harder than AMD. With prior CPUs Intel would keep a monopoly bastion of the highest frequency parts and cross subsidize the lower frequency parts. Now since AMD has no sales at the high frequecies(yet), Intel will have to cut where it has 90%+ margins where AMD only has potential sales. If they keep AMD out totally their prices will drop by 50% or more far in advance of their planned schedule. And the Xeons are not immune.
This could be an epochal year for AMD and Intel.
