Please explain this sentence, which makes no sense at all as written.

The notion that the original inhabitants of this thread have some mysterious rights and entitlements which are denied to others seems pretty ridiculous to me. If a brilliant thinker and writer joins SI tomorrow, shall we expect him or her to genuflect before you because you were here first?
