No, he did not promise to provide a 'fictitious article.' Hell, I can do that myself. It can simply be an article that claims to be by one author but is by another, or is phony in some other way. Or, more likely, it can be a title and author of an article that implies the existence of an article that in fact has never been written.

There are lots and lots of fictitious PhD theses referenced in resumes all over the world; and fictitious articles claimed to have been written, also on resumes, grant applications, scholarship applications, etc.

FT is going to present an 'article' that is fiction, but no hoax, not satire. And not a 'story.'

I want him to say this explicitly, though. Or to refuse to. Either one will be fun!
