LBP is a acute phase PLASMA protien (much longer half life)(another reason for bpi-lbp) LBP is quite high is sepsis, meningo(sepsis), and several other endotoxin)lps) disorders. MY contention is to take a broader context than bpi. Bpi is a member of a lipid contol FAMILY bpi,lbp,pltp,cetp. bpi and lbp appear to contol bacterial lipids (lps). IMO its is not normal for the body to have proteins that are harmful to it. IMO those proteins are there for a REASON. IMO my contention is now that bpi and lbp work hand in hand to protect the body. And I know thats a bold guess seeing how bpi and lbp have opposite effects on cd14 and cascade. So now (I personally) believe that all that research into anti-lbp stuff by others is more or less not quite the way to go.(IMO). Xoma has scoped out bpi and to a lesser extent lbp. The trick is to understand it and properly utilize it. Individually or in combo. Opinions and ctitique greatly appreciated.
