It's not the direction, it's the execution. There's no doubt in my mind that Dirk's K7 design team did a great job in sticking to schedule and creating a nice "Mustang" of a CPU design. And as poor as AMD's manufacturing execution was, I get the impression that it would have been worse without Atiq.

Now Jerry's taking over Atiq's role for the time being. That's bad news. Imagine what happens when the employees discover the next "manufacturing hiccup." How confident are they going to be telling a megalomaniac that there is something wrong?
