I think Gates will succeed in weakening AOL and create a very competitive ISP enviroment with no real big player that would be a threat to MSFT itself.

They have a good track record.

Free PC for a long term ISP is not new. AOL is already doing it with Compuserve and emachines, Microsoft is only reacting to AOL.
