The proof about Paul Allen can be found at the link below. As far as Gates is concerned, 500,000 shares is not enough to put him over the 5% limit which would require a 13D filing, so there is no public proof, and I don't know that he did either. But I do know that Allen bought 800,000 (actually 871,158 to be exact), as does everyone else in the world that looks at the SEC filings.

By the way, Vulcan Ventures (the company that bought these shares) is Paul Allens investment company.
