Joey,
RE:"This says it all. What happened to all the "K7 will have no competition
for at least another year" talk from the AMDites? What a joke. K7 can't
even compete on parity with existing PIIIs! Anyone with half-a-brain can
see AMD is doomed for failure with this strategy. Let's see if Jerry's Last
Stand performance in the CC tonite brings in any suckers tomorrow"...

The Athlone hasn't even started to float in a free market vis a vis supply and demand. Your point has no merit.
One thing you can expect is Intel to cut prices and try to hold market share.

This says it all. What happened to all the "K7 will have no competition for at least another year" talk from the AMDites? What a joke. K7 can't even compete on parity with existing PIIIs!

In price. 8% below in PRICE. Not performance.

Joey Re <<What a joke. K7 can't even compete on

According to AMD and benchmarks I have seen, K7 does just fine against PIII. The 9% discount is in price and is not based on performance. The discount is necessary to break into the highest end of the market. At 60% plus margin that Intel carries in this sector, it sounds reasonable to me.

Re <<Anyone with half-a-brain can see AMD is doomed for

But if you have a full brain you might see the whole picture. :)

Joey,

Anyone with half-a-brain can see AMD is doomed for failure with this strategy.

650MHz this quarter. Does that cause any bells to ring, or lights to light up?
