If you think Intel is an R&D driven company, I'd sure like to know what they have come up with in the last five years that hasn't been "borrowed or swiped. Incidentally, are you following the "clipper" technology trial?

Best, Earlie

>>If Intel was $37 today, that would give it a forward P/E (for this fiscal year
estimates) of around 19? That's a good one.<<

in bubble vision, you are correct. historically, 19 is above average.

PaperChase:

INTC has to really have a good second half to make its 2.25 EPS this year. My belief is that assuming conservatively its long term growth rate is about 15 % per year from now into the future we could say that INTC is fairly valued in the high 30's to low fortys.

If you want to say that a dental company you bought has 20 PE with no growth to justify high PEs for INTC you don't have to go far.

why stop there ? Let us inflate INTC and MSFT to match the Price to Sales of companyies like AMZN who have no earnings. Then their market caps can be half or equal US GDP and everyone can be happy ;-)

I agree the market is irrational with respect to both your dental company stock and nearly every other stock such as INTC thanks to AG.
