I believe they selected a few places around the country to do a slow rollout (presumably to get out the "kinks", which I've not experienced). Even in Austin, I don't think it's been advertised yet although I've had this service since about September. They could be doing the same kind of quiet rollout in NYC, but I think they're choosing smaller locales. There's a lot of info on the web. One place is "Cable Modem Resources on the Web"
