Clark, what the heck is a double oven crystal oscillator (DOCXO) ? Any idea what gizmo they're baking in these things? Oak Industries' Oak Frequency Control Group Receives Major Order for Double Oven Crystal Oscillators WALTHAM, Mass., July 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Oak Industries Inc. (NYSE: OAK) today announced that its Oak Frequency Control Group (OFCG) has received a multi-million dollar order for precision double oven crystal oscillator (DOCXO) products from a leading provider of wireless communications infrastructure for its newest generation of CDMA base stations. This is the largest of several production orders for DOCXOs received by OFCG from wireless infrastructure providers. The DOCXO will be produced in OFCG's Mt. Holly Springs, PA facility, and utilizes precision crystal resonators manufactured by OFCG's North American crystal facilities. This sole source order is supported by a consignment agreement designed to provide immediate product availability and scheduling flexibility in the rapidly expanding CDMA market. The DOCXO quartz-based technology is 20 times more stable than a standard single oven crystal oscillator (OCXO), and provides an alternative to Rubidium-based timing products at a fraction of the cost. This performance makes the DOCXO ideally suitable for applications requiring precision timing, such as those in CDMA and GSM wireless infrastructure, central office switching, and test instrumentation. "This order for the DOCXO confirms OFCG's leadership position in the precision oscillator market," said James Evans, OFCG's Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "We believe OFCG is now the largest provider of DOCXOs in the world. OFCG has succeeded in the wireless marketplace by offering its customers a combination of technical expertise, leading edge products, and advanced high volume oscillator manufacturing capabilities." OFCG is a leading supplier of quartz-based crystals and oscillators for use in wireless, wired telephony, military, satellite and other communications applications.
