As I recall, at an EDIG (NORRF) annual meeting SEVERAL years ago, the matter of patents came up. I recall Woody saying something to the effect that "patents pending" was better than having a patent issued in that the technology would not have to be revealed as it does when a patent is issued. A "patent pending" can go on for years - keeping information out of public view. Do we know if EDIG currently has patents pending?

sdr, AHWY has an issued patent. Of course, we don't know about any filed, non-issued patents.
If I remember correctly, some of EDIG's patents..which are different anyway, were filed in '94 and issued '96 or later.
Moot point anyway, EDIG has different claims for the most part, or have claimed an improvement. IMHO.
