Bryan, your point about BBT being a possible take over target by someone like Lucent is well taken. But if Mr. Orr is half as good as Cates believes, then it would seem to me that he might want to develop his new solutions first, make an impact on the broadband market, and then think about selling the company at a value that well exceeds its current market price. With a good management team in place, the ability of BBT to re-emerge as an important player in the broadband age improves significantly. It sounds like they have a product, or are developing a product, that could potentially be in high demand as local carriers get their DSL and broadband services off the ground. Although my technical understanding in this area is limited, I do believe that there will be a need for software solutions to channel and direct all the new digital traffic that will be generated by IP telephony, rich media, etc. Once the demand for broadband services increases (which should happen in the next year or so as DSL becomes cheaper and cable telephony becomes more accessible) BBT's prospects in the market improve significantly. I am very encouraged by Cates' assertion that BBT is in good hands with Mr. Orr; in fact, I am even encouraged by the fact that the company has been so quiet about their product, as it signals that they are confident enough not to artificially inflate the stock with premature anouncements. (Just my 2 cents - BTW, I am still researching the company, and have not taken the plunge yet; would like to get around 2).
