OT I have long advocated that the best way to reform the tax system is to require every member of congress and every member of the staff of any tax writing committee to be required to prepare their on tax returns using only a copy of the tax code, tax forms, and IRS publications. Forbid any consultation with any tax advisors, IRS employees, software, books, etc. Just them and the code and the IRS pubs. I guarantee that within two years we would have a vastly simpler tax code.
