Does your dad just want a point-n-shoot camera? Not that there's anything wrong with that, there are some nice ones. Or does he want to get fancy with f-stops and speeds, and all? What is he going to use the camera for? Your best bet is to go to a camera store, or call one on the phone, I could pick the right one out of a yellow pages, you can pretty much tell by the ads what type clientele a shop has and the right people at the right shop can help you. A good used camera can be quite a bargain. Or get one from a pawn shop, if you can tell whether it's working.
