FWIW, I have personal knowledge of an individual backing out of making a sizable investment in Intel when he learned that Intel did not meet earnings expectations. The money is going elsewhere, it is unlikely to come back into Intel anytime soon.

This person would not have understood what the significance would be if Intel were to make 40 cents rather than 60 cents. But, he did know what it meant that Intel did not meet expectations.
