Exactly. I think Lance Armstrong was with the Cofidis before he got testicular cancer. He almost dies from the cancer, a normal person probably would have, yet when he recovers and tries to come back, no big team would touch him at any price. He went with the USPS team, which was looked at as second string by everyone else, two years later and he's a much better rider than before the illness and has the tour locked up barring a crash.
Still he's going to have to do it again next year to silence the critics. The top three finishers from last year are all out now. American Bobby Julich crashed at over 50 mph(no broken bones), German Jan Ulrich injured in a previous race(and rumors around his team of drug use), Italian Marco Pantani, kicked out of the Tour of Italy while leading, for having too high a red blood cell count.(a sign of EPO drug use) Lance will have to beat Ulrich when they're both riding good, to truly establish himself as an all time great.
