Although I may be a gentleman, I'm not that informed. But from what I have learned, HDSL2 is not going to help with VDSL deployments. Rather it's one of those bandaid (but it's a BIG bandaid) solution to the ILEC bandwidth problem.

All HDSL2 does, is to DOUBLE the availability of HDSL(hence T1) services using the EXISTING copper plant. In other words the copper plant is unchanged but an ILEC can deliver twice the number of T1 lines out to their customers as needed. Like I said, it's a big bandaid and I believe will be a fairly hot technology. I believe, but am not certain, this is why ADTN stock is on fire.
