Does this not apply to a purported "news" article that reports on PETA Commandos
killing 49 people to save ONE rabbit?

The CONTENT of the article was fictitious. The event it purported to report on was not real, pretended, false, non-existent. But the ARTICLE was very real. It existed. It was an actual, real article about a fictitious event. But it was NOT a fictitious article.
