ebay could use Tandem. I do a good bit of buying there (I collect trading cards as a hobby). Sometimes the whole system is down or moving so slow. If Tandem could move into ebay it would be a big win.

Taiwan's United Micro plans US$3 bln wafer fab

TAIPEI, July 15 (Reuters) - United Microelectronics Corp
(TW:2303), Taiwan's second biggest microchip maker, said on
Thursday it was planning a US$3 billion advanced 12-inch wafer
fabrication plant in southern Taiwan.
United Micro said the 12-inch plant, located in the Tainan
Science-based Industrial Park in southern Taiwan, was part of the
company's ambitious 10-year T$500 billion (US$15 billion) project
there.
Construction of the new plant would be completed in the
fourth quarter of 2000.
United Micro said 12-inch wafer plants were the wave of the
future for the industry and the project would enable the company
to become a leader in made-to-order foundry chipmaking.
It did not say how the project would be financed, nor did it
give other details.
In May, Taiwan's largest microchip producer Taiwan
Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TW:2330) and Mosel Vitelic Inc
(TW:2342) announced plans to build 12-inch wafer plants in
Taiwan.
United Micro in June merged with four of its subsidiaries in
a move to streamline operations and boost profits.
