Steve, thanks for an intelligent response to my question. Ultimately, it seems to rest on risk. IE, the longer you are in a trade, the greater the risk. That is the appeal, and the usefulness, of day-trading. Like many of us, I feel more confident in my ability to handle a thousand shares moment by moment, than leave it to the chance whim of the market forces on a long-term trade.

Does anyone know of the java based website Steve mentioned - or any other source - that offers free S&P Futures charts? And if you are using it, have you found it useful in predicting overall trend when day-trading?
